Archive of the "Oil Office" (Larsa)

67 of the tablets published by Charpin 1976 date from the Larsa dynasty and concern sesame oil. They seem to belong to what was called the “oil bureau” (Charpin 1976: 191-193). Most are oil expenditures by Lipit-Irra and Irra-asûm.

The documents from Larsa and its kingdom provide valuable information about sesame, oil and butter. They give information about the quantities collected and distributed, as well as the uses, both in a religious context and in everyday life; see Dossier A.1.1.27.
