Commentary
This list from the Emunus archive of Girsu does not contain any administrative phrases and not even a date. Therefore, it represents an internal overview of expenses of grain used to acquire various goods. Grain is bartered for silver, but mainly for local products: aromatics and onions from the fields, fish from the marshes, and lard. This document thus marks the beginning of a tradition that lasts down to the end of the Ur III period to acquire lard through barter or purchase instead of an internal production in the organisation.
